Kay Bojesen zebra i bøgetræ. Den håndmalede Zebra var en af Kay Bojesens første eksotiske dyr. Zebraen blev første gang lanceret tilbage i 1935, men spreder stadig sjov og glæde den dag i dag.
Kay Bojesens holdning var, at design skal være rundt, blødt og føles godt i hånden. Bojesen begyndte intensivt at dyrke sin interesse for at arbejde i træ i 1930’erne, og efterfølgende skabte han en hel serie af dyr, der levede op til de idealer.
Bojesens formål var ikke at lave tro kopier af virkelighedens dyr, han ville i stedet skabe fantasifulde varianter, hvor linjerne “smiler”.
