Kay Bojesen abe lavet i teaktræ. Kay Bojesens træfigurer er kendt og elsket af mange for deres unikke design, og aben er bestemt ingen undtagelse. Aben blev til i 1951, og årene efter fulgte bl.a. bjørnen og elefanten. Formålet med dyrene var at skabe fantasifulde varianter, hvor linjerne “smiler”.
Kay Bojesens holdning var, at design skal være rundt, blødt og føles godt i hånden. Bojesen begyndte intensivt at dyrke sin interesse for at arbejde med træ i 1930’erne, og efterfølgende skabte han en hel serie af dyr, der levede op til de idealer.
